One of the aims of via donau is to enhance the competitiveness of Danube navigation by implementing targeted measures and thus increase the use of this environmentally friendly and efficient mode of transport. Simultaneously, via donau also makes intensive efforts to develop new services in inland navigation. In the future, inland waterway transport is to be integrated more strongly into intermodal logistics chains.

For this purpose, we need to analyse potentials and gather knowledge on different sectors of the industry and types of goods. One example is the consulting and support services for shippers and forwarders which serve to inform them on the possibilities offered by inland waterway transport.

In addition, via donau is also the first contact for enquiries about support schemes and the availability of EU funding for the implementation of sustainable projects for Danube navigation.
