The Austrian Waterway Administration Company, via donau, is traditionally committed to display the potential of Danube inland navigation and to collect, generate and disseminate knowledge about this means of transport.
In this line, The Blue Pages, first introduced at the Danube Summit, is the latest publication in a series of works of reference on Danube navigation. The Blue Pages is a bilingual (German-English) work of reference on the most important inland navigation companies, forwarding companies and agencies operating on the Danube, displayed according to their company profiles. This publication addresses primarily shipping companies in order to give them a user-friendly overview on the transport and forwarding companies operating on the Danube. Manfred Seitz, CEO of via donau, declared “with the Blue Pages, via donau has enhanced further its internationally acknowledged series of publications”. Mr. Seitz continued “we created hereby an interface between supply and demand and we are looking forward to have this work of reference become a base for numerous new partnerships between navigation and the shipping industry.
The publication of the Blue Pages follows the presentation the National Action Plan for Danube navigation in early 2006, a catalogue of measures which constitutes the Austrian transport policy instrument for the implementation of the European Action Programme NAIADES for inland navigation. On the basis of this first edition, future updates and amendments of the Blue Pages are foreseen.
