Call for Papers SOCW 2008 opened

The International Conference on Safety and Operations in Canals and Waterways (SOCW), the first of its kind, is scheduled to take place on 15-16th September 2008 at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. SOCW2008 will address the significant challenges associated with the analysis, design and implementation of appropriate management of safety operations in canals and waterways. The deadline for the receipt of abstracts for SOCW2008 is 16 November 2007.

SOCW2008 will bring together canal and inland waterway operators, mariners, regulators and maritime coastguards’ agencies to investigate the effect of improved safety and operations in canals and inland waterways. The Conference will provide a forum for exchange of information and views on safety and operation of traffic in canals and waterways, considering latest technological developments, and it will deal with solutions to problems connected with safety and operations in canals and inland waterways in relation to pollution and environmental protection.
