Project launch: European learning through EWITA

EWITA – short for European Learning Platform for Inland navigation and Intermodality – aims at the development of a system of e-learning platforms combining all the facets of various topics and fields of inland navigation and intermodality. This system consists of learning platforms for both the Danube and the Rhine-Maas-Scheldt region.

Besides the geographical diversity, the range of the learning contents will be complemented with specifically regional material as well as state-of-the-art e-learning technologies such as simulations, games and videos. In order to guarantee data exchange on the learning subjects on a European level between the different platforms, EWITA will be running a central web-based archive. This should enable the use of regional resources as well as the exchange of know-how on inland navigation and intermodality between the European partner states.

One unique feature of EWITA is the interface with partners from the “real world”: potential users are integrated in the development of the learning platforms from the very start; their individual needs and inputs are being processed, they can test the system and finally use it when they feel that it is customized to their personal learning needs.

The implementation of this innovative project, led by via donau currently involves nine partners from 5 different European countries.
