ARIADNA, a project funded in the 7th framework programme of the European Commission, aims at developing a new navigation support system, so-called Volumetric Navigation System (VNS) for inland and maritime navigation. This system combines data on navigation and position with time information about the vessel and the ships that are located in its surroundings. Through VNS, all vessels can share information and thus become part of a collaborative navigation network. This system will contribute to the reduction of collisions and optimise maritime and inland navigation operations.
This ARIADNA workshop is addressed to port and river navigation authorities, ship owners and navigation station controllers, professional navigation associations, navigation equipment and system providers, the academia, inland navigation and marine training institutes as well as experts in risks and insurance, and any other interested persons.
