In the course of the meeting the participants discussed the requirement analysis of the RISING project and provided a general and political feedback allowing a reflection on the project and dissemination of the RISING project developments, services and technologies.
According to the general feedback, the use of RIS for transport management should be intensified rather than limiting it to traffic management purposes only. A legal framework for data exchange between member states and with third parties is missing and should therefore be fostered. Furthermore, the awareness for the advantages of using RIS for Transport and Logistics purposes needs to be increased. While companies often prefer to develop solutions by themselves in order to gain a competitive advantage, it is the goal of the RISING project to show how RIS data can be used for optimising logistic processes, without disclosing competitive sensitive information.
This meeting was only the first in a series of meetings which are planned to take place during the project lifetime. The next meeting is scheduled for summer 2011.
