It should be proven that inland navigation can become as attractive for agricultural packaged goods as it is already for agricultural bulk goods. This project also aims at providing incentives for further innovative logistics-concepts in the agricultural sector under the umbrella of inland navigation.
The aim of this project is to draw up a concept for innovative logistics-chain-management in the agricultural sector taking into account inland navigation, with the Danube, as main focus, yet also considering all other connected waterways.
The project was carried out gradually. In the first stage, the focus was to record potential transport quantities of agricultural raw and semi finished products in terms of both Austrian and European inland navigation. In a second stage, all essential service qualities, which have to be provided for the transport of agricultural packaged goods by the inland navigation, had to be defined. The last step of the project was to create a suitable logistic-chain.
