With DoRIS – Donau River Information Services – via donau has participated in the development of a decisive tool for the modernisation of inland navigation and hence also contributes to increasing the safety on the Danube.
As part of its flood control activities, via donau ensures the safety of more than 500,000 people living near the Danube. Currently, via donau is also reconstructing the flood control dyke on the Morava and the lower Thaya rivers and is responsible for the safety of the population living in the area of the individual construction sections in the event of a flood.
As the managing office for the Danube Flood Control Agency (DHK), via donau is responsible for the maintenance of the DHK’s dykes and other flood control structures on the Danube. In addition, via donau organises and performs flood emergency management services on behalf of the DHK.
