In implementing its projects, via donau is integrated into an international network of decision-makers from politics and business, special interest groups and experts.

The work of its employees is much valued at international level and opens up new opportunities for an international exchange of experience and cross-border activities to further develop the Danube waterway.

Especially in the Danube region, via donau has become a forerunner with regard to many issues in accordance with legal and transport policy requirements in the last few years.

This particularly includes the introduction of uniform standards for inland navigation information services (River Information Services – RIS), the development of sustainable planning principles for river engineering projects and cross-border initiatives to promote Danube navigation.

At pan-European level, via donau supports the European Commission primarily in implementing the European Action Programme for Inland Waterway Transport (NAIADES).

As a result of jointly implemented projects and initiatives, the company has developed excellent contacts with waterway administrations in Europe and particularly in the Danube region and is a member in important lobbying and interest groups.

The work of the European river commissions is supported by via donau through the provision of subject-specific expertise and technical data on inland waterway transport.
