The agenda of the hydrography and hydrology sections comprises:

• Bathymetry[hgi1] of the riverbed (riverbed imaging)
• Measuring of flow rates and currents
• Geodetic surveying
• Creation and operation of a network of control points to fulfil legal requirements
• Operation of a geographical information system (GIS)
• Continuous collection of parameter data on surface water, groundwater and solid matter at the rivers Danube, Morava and Thaya – managing the flood emergency management services
• Continuous data transfer for flood alert purposes and prognostic models (online data)
• Further hydrological evaluation
• Cooperation with the relevant departments of the Austrian provinces within the framework of the Austrian Hydrographical Service of the Republic of Austria
• Monitoring the Weir Operating Regulations of the Austrian Danube power plants of the Verbund electricity company in accordance with the relevant water legislation notification
• Participation in national, international and EU-wide projects
• Participation in border waters commissions
