FP6 - Sixth Framework Programme (2002 - 2006)

Geltungsbereich: international

The Sixth Framework Programme covers Community activities in the field of research, technological development and demonstration (RTD) for the period 2002 to 2006.

FP7 - Seventh Framework Programme (2007 - 2013)

Geltungsbereich: international

The Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) bundles all research-related EU initiatives together under a common roof playing a crucial role in reaching the goals of growth, competitiveness and employment. The broad objectives of FP7 have been grouped into four categories: Cooperation, Ideas, People and Capacities. For each type of objective, there is a specific programme corresponding to the main areas of EU research policy.

INTERREG III (2000 - 2006)

Geltungsbereich: international

INTERREG, a community initiative of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), promotes closer cooperation between the EU regions. INTERREG’s objective is to strengthen economic and social cohesion in the European Union by supporting specifically cross-border, transnational and interregional cooperation and a balanced spatial development. Particular attention is given to the integration of regions in remote areas of the European Union and those along the borders of the accession candidates.

Interreg III is made up of 3 strands:

  • A – Cross-border cooperation
  • B – Transnational cooperation
  • C – Interregional cooperation

As transnational cooperation is aimed at specifically promoting the geographic regions of the Alps, the Danube region, i.e. Central and Southeastern Europe, it is broken down into two subareas, INTERREG IIIB Alpine Space and INTERREG IIIB CADSES (Central, Adriatic, Danubian and South-East Europe).

CADSES Follow-up Programmes (2007-2013)
In the new Structural Funds Period (2007-2013), the current CADSES transnational cooperation area will be divided into two spaces: the Central Europe Programme (CENTRAL) and the South East European Space (SEES).

IPA - Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (2007 - 2013)

Geltungsbereich: international

Drawing on the main lessons from the current accession process, the European Union wants to rationalise the pre-accession aid it provides to potential members of the EU. The Commission is therefore proposing a Regulation aimed at streamlining pre-accession assistance by enhancing coordination between the different components, through the creation of a single framework for assistance: the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance. This framework incorporates the Phare, ISPA and SAPARD system along with "structural funds" and "rural development funds" components. The objective is to prepare the candidate countries better for the implementation of structural and rural development funds after accession.

ISPA – Instrument for Structural Policies for Pre-Accession (2000 – 2006)

Geltungsbereich: international

This programme was created for the new EU Member States and EU candidate countries Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic and Hungary (also: Malta, Cyprus and Turkey). Its objective is to develop infrastructure projects in the areas of transport and environment.
